Winterlicious at Epic

I had a nice Winterlicious dinner with the girls from school at Epic . Epic is located within Royal York Hotel, which brought back convocation memories. I liked Epic more than the Winterlicious heavyweight, Canoe. I personally think the  service and food were both superior.

Reunited
Dr. Joyce is missing in action since instead of working as a pharmacist like the rest of us, she is persuing an education in Medicine

bread

Terrine, was alright

Crisp Skinned Nova Scotia Branzino

Veal Cheek ‘Bourguignon’
This was super delicious  . The meat was really tender and flavourful. I loved it.

Warner’s Farm Apple Tart, was very fresh

Chef’s Seasonally Inspired Sorbets
Mango, blueberry, and raspberry

Chef's compliment

Canoe Winterlicious

Sigh. I really don't intend to dedicate this blog exclusively for food pictures. But other than dining, there really isn't much else to do in Toronto this time around, where the daily high is about -5°C . One day I'm hoping to consider moving to somewhere more temperate, as long as I can find a decent job there. Anywhere in need of Canadian-trained Pharmacists?

I went to Canoe last week for a Winterlicious lunch

bread

Clover Roads Duck Rillette
was good

Braised Alberta Lamb Pappardelle

Slow Cooked Heritage Salmon
was really good    my favourite course

Birch Syrup Cake
I didn't like this at all... the white foam had no taste and I wasn't fond of the cake either  Overall the lunch was alright.

view from my seat

I cut my hair tehehe. Haven't had it this short in a long time. I miss my long hair already

Noodles

There's nothing like a hot bowl of noodles on a cold winter day  . I've been frequently craving for noodles these past few weeks (must be the cold weather... ) and thus accumulated the following pictures

Seafood Udon at Ichiban (near Yonge/Finch)

Beef Noodle at Szechuan Legend (near Midland/Finch )

Tonkotsu Miso Ramen at Kenzo (Downtown)

Crispy Chicken Udon at Tea Shop 168 (near Midland/Finch)

Ajisen House Noodle at Ajisen Ramen

Shanghai Style Noodle Soup at Asian Legend (one of my least favourite places to eat... everything is so mediocre )

Tonkotsu Ramen at Niwatei (J-town)

Ramen with BBQ pork, also comes with soy milk (Pacific Mall upper level food court)

In conclusion, Chinese people always put bok choy in noodle soup lol.

Diana's Seafood, Teashop 168

Yay I am posting more food pictures. Eating is all I do when I go out . I went to Diana's Seafood for the first time

Oysters
To be honest I'm not particularly fond of raw oysters by virtue of their seawater-like taste. It tastes like eating the ocean in my opinion...

Salad, did not like this. It needed a lot more dressing

Mixed Seafood Grill and Euro Bass
Was very fresh and well-done . The service was also very good. I would be interested in going back.
Diana's Seafood website : http://www.dianasseafood.com

Afterwards we went to Teashop 168 for bubbletea and dessert

Got the Red 'N White funnel cake and was delightfully surprised by the presentation. Hmmm
Was yummy, although according to be menu it's supposed to be strawberry not apple...

Teppanyaki at Tako Sushi

I had the awesomest teppanyaki dinner at Tako Sushi
Teppanyaki, i.e. cooking on an iron griddle, originated in Japan but has been popular worldwide.

Salad

Soup

Sushi

Eel and seafood
the yellowish mango sauce tasted very interesting, never had anything like it

foie gras with kiwi and strawberry

our stoic chef, Henry
he made a volatile volcano with some onions and alcohol

beef and veggies
yummm

Fried rice
also very good

green tea icecream

The teppanyaki here was delicious, entertaining to watch, and the price was right (although we had to wait a long time for a seat). The atmosphere is great especially for slightly larger groups. Overall, highly recommended

Tako Sushi website : http://www.takosushi.ca/
I went to the Don Mills location

Authentic Japanese food : Le Cafe Michi, Japango, Izakaya Ju

Le Cafe Michi

Sashimi Dinner at Le Cafe Michi
This is THE place for authentic Japanese food in Scarborough . I had the sashimi dinner which also comes with salad and dessert. Yummm.
My old post on Le Cafe Michi

Japango

Tako and hotate sashimi
LOVED the hotate (scallop)

Japango roll
I have no idea what they put in this. It's a bit spicy but really good
My old post on Japango

Izakaya Ju

Ja-Ja Men
Minced pork and egg on udon, was very filling

Stuffed chiken wings
A new item on their menu, was good

Salmon and Ikura gohan
Salmon on rice, was alright. I'm not a huge fan of Izakaya Ju since while some dishes are very unique and well-done, a few others can be really disappointing. It's advisable to read reviews before you go.
My old post on Izakaya Ju

CN Tower's 360 Restaurant

Sigh I've been lazy and these pictures are a bit dated. I went to the 360 Restaurant to celebrate passing my PEBC. The view was terrific. The food was pretty mediocre though.

Sunset

I had the prix fixe dinner. $68 for a dinner is pretty pricy but the view and atmosphere somewhat compensated for the price. This is called SALMON CAVIAR AND CRÈME FRAÎCHE. Yes I am directly coping & pasting from their online menu lol

ESCARGOT “BOURGUIGNON”
Was surprisingly good. My favourite course

HOT WHISKEY MUSTARD CRUSTED QUEBEC PORK TENDERLOIN
Nothing special, just tastes like cooked pork

GOAT’S MILK, VANILLA BEAN ICE CREAM
Was pretty good, but I felt like the portion was huge. If anyone is wondering where is the artificial lighting coming from, it's iPhone flashlight

By the time I was done eating it was completely dark out

Would I go back? Nope, unless I'm taking somebody who is visiting Toronto and wants to go up the CN Tower.

Japango

Japango Sushi & Noodle Restaurant

Some of the best sushi I had recently. Loved this place

Forgot what this was... dragon roll??

Yaki Udon

Oysters
The only dish I didn't like

Japango roll
These are soooo good

Hotate sushi & tako sushi
We got these for free cause they got our order wrong muahaha

Hotate sashimi & tako sashimi

Panorama

Panorama

The food was not good and overpriced. More of a place for drinks I guess.

Cheesecake springroll. Dessert was the only enjoyable course.

The view was very nice though

Guu Sakabar, Papaya, Yogurt Spoon
Guu Sakabar
Guu opened a new location at Annex

Papaya
Thai restaurant at Yonge/ Wellesley. I got the spring roll platter. It was alright, probably would not go back.

Yogurt Spoon
Awesome self-serve frozen yogurt joint at Yonge/Wellesley. Lots of flavours and toppings to choose from

Mine is the one at the bottom hehehe
